I was noticing similarities between the book and your works, but I was expecting it to be a hunch. Love how you portrayed Chief (I laughed at the bison), and McMurphy (or is that Ellis?). Absolutely wonderful.
Poor Screw. If the warden's anything like Ratched... :/
"Get moving, Screwloose!" A harsh yank on her muzzle accompanied the yell. She growled softly. The routine tests and humiliation, she'd learned to live with, but she hated being called Screwloose. It wasn't as if she could remember her given name, but anything would be better than what the 'good doctor' Bedlam had dubbed her. She wondered if the gash in his ear would ever heal fully. He deserved that bite, and it was completely worth it in her eyes, but it would be harder to escape because of that. They led her past some of the others, and she could hear the doctor mumble something about hoof-braces. She knew she'd blown her opportunity, and part of her wished that she'd ran instead of attacked. They'd keep a close eye on her from now on, and she knew that the already-sparse moments of freedom in her days would disappear, but despite this, she smiled.
